Treatment of asymmetric CL II patients

In the treatment of asymmetries, the aim is either to restore symmetry or to improve the asymmetry. Strategy of treatment can depend on the asymmetry being skeletal or dento-alveolar and whether the asymmetry is localized in the maxilla, the mandible or combined in both jaws.

Localization of the asymmetry is key in the treatment planning aiming for good occlusion and facial harmony. Correction of asymmetries in the permanent dentition and especially in the adult patient can be challenging and may require extractions and skeletal anchorage.

The lecture will focus on clinical evaluation of asymmetries and management of various treatment approaches as well as biomechanical considerations in asymmetric CL II patients.
