SUMMARY:Dr. Diana Boangar\, Cluj-Napoca und Zalau\, Rumänien
DESCRIPTION:Upper central incisor- an inderdisciplinary approach\n\nWhen es
thetically and functionally planning complex rehabilitations\, all special
ists across dentistry-from maxillo-facial surgeons to prosthodontists- sta
rt with the end in mind: the 3-D position of the upper incisal margin. \n
\nWhen working on interdisciplinary cases\, it’s important for orthodont
ists also to be able to correctly appreciate the status of the upper incis
or\, and find the appropriate solution.\n\n And sometimes\, we might get
one of those cases that fall into the “gray zone” and for which no ind
ividual approach offers optimal results. A well conducted\, individualized
orthodontic treatment may turn a difficult- in a medium difficulty-grade
case\, and one that requires great sacrifice of dental or periodontal tiss
ues into a minimally invasive approach. The reverse situation is equally f
requent\, when orthodontics by itself cannot esthetically and functionally
finish complex cases in a satisfactory way. That’s when we might integr
ate other specialists in our treatment planning.\n\nThat is why it’s imp
ortant for us to recognize the complex problems our patients may have\, ou
r own limits in adressing those issues\, to individualize protocols and fi
nd the common ground to efficiently communicate with other specialists.\n\
nThe objectives of the presentation are:\n\n-   Go over the esthetic anal
ysis that might help orthodontists make the correct diagnosis\n\n 	 Recog
nize clinical situations that deviate from ideal\n 	 Recognize clinical s
ituations when interdisciplinary collaboration is indicated\n 	 Present c
 linical situations of interdisciplinary collaboration\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\nDr.
Elia Diana Boangar\, Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedic
s\nDr. Elia Diana Boangar graduated the “I. Hatieganu” University of M
edicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca in 2006\, and in 2010 she finished her Ma
ster’s degree in Orhodontics in Cluj-Napoca and Bordeaux\, France. Ever
since\, she has been exclusively practicing orthodontics in Cluj-Napoca an
d Zalau. In 2015 she became part of the “Learning by Doing” multidisci
plinary educational platform\, which advocates for solid professional and
ethical principles in dentistry. Apart from her private practice\, she lik
es to share her experience and advocate for the integration of interdiscip
linarity in the protocols of complex treatment planning. She lectures nati
onally and internationally on the subjects of skeletal anchorage and inter
disciplinary treatment of adult patients\, emphasizing the importance of p
roperly sequencing orthodontic\, periodontal and restorative treatment. Sh
e also published articles related to interdisciplinary orthodontics in int
ernational peer-reviewed journals. She is speaking for GC Orthodontics\, a
nd an active member of World Federation of Orthodontists\, American Associ
ation of Orthodontists and European Orthodontic Society.
